From Utah to Dallas - Chadwick's Story

Meet Chadwick, Senior Associate from our North America region. Chadwick recently made the move to Texas and has shared his experience with us, from planning his family's move, adjusting to life in a new city, and the perks of being able to live anywhere while working at Partners in Performance. Read on to hear Chadwick's full story...

I have been with Partners in Performance since mid-2018, and I have to say that I am enjoying it more now than ever. My family and I recently moved to the great state of Texas and I wanted to share the experience on the Life at Partners in Performance Stories blog.

When I first considered joining the firm, one of the most attractive aspects to me was the flexibility to live pretty much wherever I wanted. After growing up in the frigid Rockies of Utah, then moving to an even colder Michigan, my wife and I decided that we’d had enough of the cold and were only going to join a company that would bring us to a warmer location. When I learned that I could live anywhere with Partners in Performance, I was sold.

Even though I had never lived in Texas before, it seemed like (and is turning out to be) the perfect location. The weather is great year-round, the cost of living is among the lowest in the nation, and the airport is huge and central to the US. Once we decided where we wanted to go, it was as easy as sending an email to People & Culture letting them know that my home address had changed – that was it!

In addition to being flexible as to where I could move to, the leadership team was also very flexible as to when I could move. Even though my move was scheduled while I was on an engagement in Sudbury, Ontario, my development leader was very understanding of my situation and accommodated my needs appropriately. I headed home on Thursday afternoon, packed my things on Friday, loaded the moving van on Saturday, and my family left for our new home on Sunday. Luckily for me, I did not have to make the drive with them and my airport code only changed by one letter – I flew out of DTW (Detroit Metropolitan Airport) Sunday night and returned home to DFW (Dallas Fort Worth International Airport) the following Friday. My team was very supportive of the move and was excited to hear all about it.

In a few short weeks after relocating to Texas, my work-life balance has improved drastically! The weather is consistently positive, so, when I am home, I can actually do things outside. The airport flies direct to most major cities in the US and Canada, so I have fewer layovers. And my favourite restaurant (Costa Vida) happens to be 15 minutes from my new house. I am really happy that I made the choice to join Partners in Performance because I am not sure if this would have happened otherwise.

I am very glad to work for a team that is so accommodating of each person’s choices and lifestyle. This is only one experience of many where Partners in Performance has made it so easy for me to be me!
